Now that you've learned all the basics needed to start and configure HLDS, let's take the next step: making it better... You need a fast computer so that people don't lag or else lag will make people never want to come to your server again.

This section is divided in two sub-sections: Hardware and Software.

Before you start clicking on either of them I'm going to give you the best trick in making a HLDS server. Ready? Here it goes:

Don't try playing on the same computer as you have the server running! (unless your computer has the industry's most powerful processor and plenty of RAM (1GB and more)
